Meet Dr. Hannah Canuto

Dr. Hannah Canuto earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York College of Optometry. She completed her clinical training at private practices in Bronx, NY, and Beverly Hills, CA. She practices full-scope optometry and specializes in retinal diseases, glaucoma, and dry eye. In addition to performing comprehensive eye exams for all ages, including contact lens fitting, she completed a low-vision-based externship at the VA in West Haven, CT.
She has traveled to Nicaragua and Mexico for medical mission trips. She is a recipient of the Marchon Practice Management Award of Excellence and Dr. Leslie Mintz Scholarship Foundation Award from the New Jersey Society of Optometry Physicians (NJSOP). Dr. Canuto remains a member of the NJSOP and the American Optometric Association.
Before optometry school, she graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers University, receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences. She shadowed Dr. Josephine as an undergraduate and soon after joined Franklin Family Eyecare as a technician. Now, she is excited to return as a clinician!
Franklin Family Eyecare serves the local community with a modern eye care approach using the latest technologies and lens products. Its commitment to ensuring that patients leave adequate understanding of how their eye health should be managed is what attracted Dr. Canuto to join the Franklin Family Eyecare team. Patients return year after year fostering long term care and relationships. Dr. Canuto hopes by integrating with its family oriented team she can help grow Franklin Family Eyecare’s general and specialty services like myopia management, specialty contact lenses, dry eye and macular degeneration.
During her free time, Dr. Canuto enjoys traveling, hiking, trying new food and spending time with her family, friends and her dog, Haku.
